Your team responsibilities
The analyst is expected to be familiar with facets of the power / energy industry and is also expected to have general knowledge about emerging Sustainability data trends, financials, understanding and interpreting financial statements, and keeping abreast with new accounting regulations and governing standards.
The candidate will research information about a company's financials, using a variety of interesting sources including annual reports, 10-K's, consolidated financial statements, corporate social responsibility reports, sustainability reports, equity research reports, news publications, research studies, and engagement with the companies themselves.
Datapoints to be collected are mainly pertaining to a company's business activities such as its segment related information, company level classification and also collection of value-added data points that are mainly used by MSCI's ESG business within the domains of Energy, Utilities, Financials and Banking industries.

Your key responsibilities
Collecting and conducting research on company level data points
Researching, analyzing, and interpreting consolidated financial statements of companies, annual reports, CSR reports, etc.
Searching for, procuring, and processing information about global companies using multiple methods, techniques, and sources.
Interpret data methodologies and ensure data is delivered as per standard guidelines
Capturing and transforming raw data into meaningful information on company exposures
Working with different types of information sources (i.e. lengthy annual reports, websites, quantitative data feeds, web crawlers), types of information (i.e. quantitative data, key performance indicators, prose narratives), topics or subject matters (i.e. traditional financial risk, corporate governance, and sustainability) and types of analysis (i.e. rules-based, subjective analysis, written summaries).
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
In-depth knowledge about the power industry, oil and gas, or the energy sector in general
Sound knowledge on equities, fixed income or financial markets in general (experience in fixed income will be an added advantage)
Background in process-oriented/data heavy tasks with excellent financial research skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc)
Basic knowledge of data visualization applications such as Power BI/Tableau and Python/SQL
Minimum 2 years of experience in the Financial Services ideally involving financial research and data analysis; or Energy sector industry
Bachelor of Science in a field related to the energy sector, Bachelor of Commerce or Banking, MBA or any equivalent degree in commerce discipline, Bachelor of Arts in environmental related discipline
