The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is a U.S. based association dedicated to creating and supporting dynamic communities around the world. COMMUNICATION OFFICER
Based in Makati City
JOB PURPOSE
The Communication Officer will assist in the development and implementation of SURGE’s project communication to increase the visibility of USAID and the Project. S/he will provide support in the development of meaningful content and communication collaterals, and management of events of the project and partners. S/he will support both internal and external communication initiatives.
 
SCOPE OF WORK
You will work under the supervision of the Communication Manager and will undertake the following tasks:
• Assist in periodic and ad hoc reporting on program activities and progress;
• Produce promotional and information materials about the project and its activities. These include press releases, feature articles, speeches, infographics, photo exhibits, videos, multimedia presentations;
• Take high quality photos and videos of project activities and events;
• Produce content for social media platforms of the project and USAID;
• Contribute to the planning and organization of program-related events;
• Undertake public and media relations initiatives as needed by the project;
• Maintain the highest standard of integrity and ensure compliance with all project and employer procedures and policies;
• Undertake any other necessary tasks that the Communication Manager assigns.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a college graduate of a four-year course in mass communication, journalism, creative writing or other related studies. With excellent command of verbal and written English. Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in news writing, outreach, media affairs, photography, video, graphics layout, and event management. Communication work experience with donor agencies, humanitarian agencies, NGOs, news outfits preferred. Post-graduate degree or diploma in development communication or similar studies a plus. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Possesses strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to accept feedback and work with a team. With the ability to prioritize and plan in responding to work demands.
