Job Overview
TE is looking for a Cloud Database Administrator who can lead and deliver complete database design, development, deployment, and support for actionable BI and Advanced Analytics solutions. This role participates in the implementation of AWS components to form a data lake, and implement processes to extract, load and transform unstructured and structured data from the raw to the purpose build Database layer.
You will be responsible for requirements analysis, design, and implementation of database solutions in on-premise and cloud environments. You will work closely with project managers, vendor partners, business unit representatives, project sponsors and Segment CIO teams to deliver the solutions. You are expected to communicate project status, issues and change control to all levels of management
Job Description
Assist in the overall planning for the future direction of database software in support of the Enterprise mission and goals
Guide Database engineering strategy from a management perspective with an operational background
Provide standards, procedures, and guidelines for the effective and secure use of the databases and database features
Monitor and maintain production and non-production database and Datawarehouse environments
Provide database backup and recovery services including recurring verification of backups
Installation, upgrades, and maintenance of enterprise database software including but not limited to Redshift, Aurora, Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.
Monitor and maintain the security of the databases and database software (with other groups)
Provide migration services to oversee changes to the production environments
24-hour production problem support including review and resolution of database related log and monitoring messages
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
5+ years of experience in data modeling and data warehousing
3+ experience in AWS Redshift, RDS, Aurora services
3+ years of experience in implementing complex data storage architectures on both cloud and on-prem environments, handling both structured and unstructured data
Very good understanding of data models and design patterns in data warehouses
Experience with Star schema and Snowflake modelling
Experience with other data platform implementations like Oracle, MySQL, and NoSQL
Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills coupled with a strong work ethic
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgement and decision making.
Flexibility to work occasional hours outside normal business, according to business need
