Job Description
Chief Engineer is responsible for:
⬧ Main engine, Auxiliary engine, Boiler with auxiliary equipment
⬧ Air/cooling compressor with auxiliary equipment ⬧ Electrical plant with distribution
⬧ Automation plant with auxiliary equipment
⬧ Steam turbine with auxiliary equipment
⬧ Cargo pumps/pumps with automation equipment
⬧ Mooring, Hydraulic equipment
⬧ Steering gear with automation
⬧ Bunker stock and consumption
⬧ Spare parts consumption, stock and ordering
⬧ Firefighting and rescue procedure and equipment maintenance and functions
⬧ Safety measures for maintenance work, mechanical and electrical
⬧ Lubrication oil stock and consumption
⬧ Class/authorities rules and regulations
⬧ Pollution equipment/prevention
⬧ Fuel oil consumption as stated in the present voyage order.
⬧ Necessary repairs and services from shore for all equipment except navigation and communication systems.
⬧ Reporting to the Master all technical matters/failures/faults of engines and machinery
⬧ Following up and ensuring that the budgets are kept.
⬧ Following up and ensuring proper filing of the purchase order forms.
⬧ Coordinating and following up the Electrician/ETO's routine maintenance and daily work.
⬧ Bunkering and transfer of fuel and lub oil samplings of same etc.
⬧ The Chief Engineer attends the weekly routine inspection and works on planning meetings.
⬧ Daily checking operation and maintenance of air-condition, refrigeration compressors and plants.
Skills and Qualifications:
For evaluation upon receipt of application.
Indicate Gross Tonnage of the vessel for every embarkation.
Indicate if holds a Higher License.
