Job Description :
Overview of the Role - Chief Engineer
As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the operations, care and maintenance of the machineries, equipment and tools on board. You will carry out maintenance activities according to planned maintenance schedule and fix defects when they occur. You will be responsible to ensure that the vessel complies with Taiwanese rules and regulations * company policies within a Chief Engineer's area of responsibility. In addition to your engineering duties, you will be required to assist with deck operations, including craning, mooring and any other duties as instructed by the Master. All crew are expected to share on board domestic duties including cleaning and cooking.
You will be required to work on shifts or such other working patterns onboard the vessel in compliance with vessel's operational requirements and local regulations. When the CTV is operating 12hours or more a day, it will be moored overnight in the port and crew will be accommodated onboard the vessel. You will be working on 3 months ON, 3 months OFF rotation cycle (This may vary according to requirements)
Roles * Responsibilities
• Perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of equipment, machineries, tools and systems on board according to planned maintenance schedule, operating conditions and instructions
• Maintain and hand over engineering watch in accordance to standard operating procedures
• Maintain cleanliness of all technical spaces, engine rooms, tank rooms and bilges
• Detect and report defects, identify cause of machinery malfunctions and rectify faults
• Lead operation, surveillance, performance assessment and safety maintenance of engines and auxiliary machinery
• Maintain proper records of movements and activities relating to engineering systems
• Maintain inventory of fuel and critical spare parts
• Oversee contractors repair and shipyard jobs for the vessel
• Assist crew with deck operations such as lifting operations, mooring of vessels and
• Develop emergency and damage control plans and handle emergency situations.
• Assist the master in documentation * paper work related to technical department and charterer's operations.
• Maintain logs, vessel certificates, documents and records required by relevant authorities, classification society * charterers.
• Any other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements :
Certification, Training * Skill Requirements
• 2nd Class Engineer Certificate or higher issued by Maritime Port Bureau of Taiwan.
• Very good experience in small high speed vessel engine room operations and excellent safety record.
• Valid STCW 95/2010 Basic training certificates including but not limited to Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Advance Fire Fighting, Medical First Aid, Security Awareness Training and Personal Safety * Social Responsibility.
• Valid Seafarer Medical Certificate
• Good command of spoken and written English * Mandarin
• Good team player with strong organisational skills
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
