Job Description:
The Control Manager Vice President provides leadership to create a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and works to enhance the effectiveness for the business
Primary function is to create and enhance an effective Firm wide control framework, looking within and across the lines of business, to identify and suggest remediation of control issues with a sense of urgency regardless of the source.
This role will report to the Centralised Controls Management Director and Lead Control Evaluation for AWM and CCB Businesses. The role will have close interactions with Quality Assurance team and Controls Reporting team to provide a comprehensive view to the Business leaders on the effectiveness of the controls. The role will partner closely with other stake holders (e.g. LoB Control Teams, Business Owners, Compliance Officers and Operational Risk Managers) within AWM and CCB to ensure comprehensive view of the Controls Environment.
Key Responsibilities
Create a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies
Review and analyze program related data (Evaluation Results, QA results, Triggers) to proactively identify existing and emerging Operational risks and issues to support business-related programs and strategies
Provide leadership support for the end-to-end execution of the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE), including control deficiencies and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
Engage with control colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators and technology control functions
Manage and motivate a team in executing to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
Provide leadership at site as well as team wide initiatives to foster a culture of collaboration
Provide ongoing feedback and training and develop employees on risk concepts and the application to risk and control evaluation
Skill Set
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Masters Degree / Professional Degree (e.g. Chartered Accountant) preferred
10+ years of financial service experience in operations / risk & controls management, audit, quality assurance, or compliance preferred
Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
Business knowledge - ability to understand the business / knowledge of regulation surrounding business
Communication/presentation - excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner
Networking - exceptional interpersonal skills; collaboration and relationship building skills
Work autonomously to affect change - flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manages competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and able to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment
