The Independent Review Group (IRG) is an independent Level 1 control function performing trading surveillance across the Corporate and Investment Bank division. Located within Regulatory Operations, IRG are closely aligned with front office whilst maintaining segregation to perform a review and challenge control - identification and prevention of potentially fraudulent trading activity. The platform provides sophisticated analytics to generate meaningful alerts, automated workflow and management reporting to support the monitoring and fraud detection process.
The Trading Surveillance APAC will be working on an industry leading anomaly detection platform that uses innovative solutions involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The role would leverage on strong product knowledge to conduct analysis of trading data across debt and equity products, providing insights into trends and trader behaviour across all businesses and regions. He/she will manage risk cases covering investigation and follow up within the defined timeframes and apply this analysis to refine and improve Key Risk Indicators used in the platform (including definition and acceptance testing). The role will also guide and mentor a team of surveillance analysts.
Key objectives are to:
Provide independent reviews on actions performed by Front Office Supervisors on critical alerts to ensure correct actions are taken within the appropriate timeframe.
Proactively monitor the Key Risk Indicators, and Alerts created by the Reporting and Analytics Solution to ensure completeness and accuracy and highlight required modifications to the analytics.
Coordinate and process requests for other end users for modification to the analytics in the solution. Act as system and business process support function for all user groups of the solution, including training, troubleshooting, system usage and data interpretation
Triage data issues (e.g. missing data, data quality issues etc.) raised by end users of the solution and coordinate with the appropriate stakeholders across the bank for remediation.
Ensure adherence to appropriate regional and global governance requirements for Internal and External Surveillance matters.
Your key responsibilities
Conduct detailed analysis of trading data across Investment Bank and Corporate products globally, provide insights into trends and trader behaviour across all businesses and regions.
Manage risk cases covering investigation and follow up within the defined timeframes. Apply this analysis to refine and improve Key Risk Indicators used in the platform (including definition and acceptance testing)
Identify opportunities for improving data quality and reducing 'noise' and false positives
Regular face off to work with and support requests from Front Office Supervisors, CB&S Conducts & Controls and various product areas business control units.
Coordinate efforts in implementing the changes to processes, system feeds, Key Risk Indicators, management information and workflow changes (including definition and acceptance testing). Implement strategy, standards and policies as the function expands across APAC and Globally.
Your skills and experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Banking and Finance or related courses with very good understanding of controls related to the complete trade life cycle, trade booking practices and systems across multiple products and an experience in analytical based MI production
Preferably with middle office exposure and strong front to back knowledge of investment banking architecture and good appreciation of risks in different strategies dealt in a dealing room
Excellent statistical and analytical skills with the ability to solve problems independently; superior Excel, Access and VBA skills with advanced knowledge in other MS Office products
Excellent team player with ability to work in fast-paced environment as part of global team, open minded, able to share information, transfer knowledge and expertise to colleagues.
Ability to work independently to solve business problems, an inquisitive nature, a willingness to ask questions and challenge, ability to work in fast-paced environment and guide and mentor more junior team members
