The Buyer III position is responsible for driving and executing to the inventory, sourcing, and publisher management strategy for their assigned area. This position will be empowered to negotiate and make decisions regarding their product lines. Strong teamwork and leadership both within the department and with their teammates is necessary to ensure we are achieving overall goals for the company.

Process Owner:
-Set, drive & execute stocking and sourcing strategy for area of responsibility Define controller buckets (MRP groups etc) and allocates responsibilities Overall inventory management (ZM46), aging buckets for sub-group (HW only)
-Inventory provision expense management and ownership for area of responsibility (HW only)
-Focus on managing inventory including high movers placed with exception controllers for their respective area (HW only)
-Minimize lost sales resulting from shortages - maintain required inventory levels Set the purchasing and sourcing plan for area of responsibility
-Control procurement spend to meet business requirements Develop, mentor, and train Associate Buyer and Buyer
Gathers Business Intelligence:
-Work with PM and Suppliers to determine product life cycles Understand technology roadmap & align to supplier network
-Determine risk of & impact from changes to new products
-Stay current on program changes, return policies, new licensing programs, and pricing changes. Communicate changes to management as appropriate
-PM Engagement and alignment in business planning to meet overall Insight objectives for specific product lines (Inventory, Revenue, Gross Profit, and SR)
-Assist Category Managers with spend data, MSCs, and RFPs
Supplier / Material Management:
-Responsible for management of highest spend and critical Tier1 Manufacturer/Publisher lines (Foundation Partners $100MM+ annual spend)
-Optimize supplier lead times via effective negotiations/communications
-Find optimal sources for required materials
-Automate strategic sourcing where practical
-Negotiate product lines, inventory levels, pricing, and expedite delivery
-Consolidate spend & build targeted supplier base Manufacturer/Publisher Program Management
-Set Supplier metrics and drive continuous performance improvement through formal QBR process
Purchasing Operations:
-Management of data integrity across area of responsibility & reporting system/data integrity issues
-Create/cancel PO's aligned to stocking strategy, MRP approach & automation intent - maintain cost Proactive Management of Inventory; in / out / backlog/shipment errors / reconciliation (AP) / write-downs
-Assist price protection when needed (HW only)
-Product Allocation notifications (HW only)
-Opportunity Buys with measures of cost-effectiveness / profitability (HW only)
-Program Support - warranties, special pricing, SW licensing
-Ensure Functional Alignment with team members including PM / WH / Sales
-Coordinate departmental training, operational and training meetings
-Optimize savings acquisition and retention using TCO analysis, RFP mgt and e-Sourcing tools
-Complete various projects assigned by Supervisor, Category Manager or Management
-Drive cost savings initiatives
-Work on continual process improvements
-Provide critical feedback to management
-Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; minimum four years of experience in specialty or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/ professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Ability to write reports and/or business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, internal customers, other teammates.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or issues. Ability to write using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and/or persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to management.
Strong client service skills and commitment to meet or exceed client requirements. Ability to understand and respond to client needs. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills required. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple objectives. Strong Microsoft Office skills with a focus on Excel. Previous SAP experience a plus.
