Job Title: Bookkeeper
Work Hours: 9 am to 5 pm EST
Salary: 800-1,500 USD per month
About the Role:
As a Bookkeeper/Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring financial transactions, and ensuring the overall financial health of the organization. Your attention to detail, proficiency in accounting practices, and organizational skills will contribute to the smooth operation of the company's financial processes. You will work closely with the finance team, management, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by entering financial transactions into the accounting software, including invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses.
2. Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile financial accounts, including bank statements, credit cards, and vendor statements, to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process and manage accounts payable and receivable transactions, including issuing invoices, tracking payments, following up on overdue accounts, and managing vendor relationships.
4. Expense Management: Review and categorize expenses, ensuring they are properly allocated and coded to appropriate accounts. Monitor and control expenditures to align with budgetary guidelines.
5. Financial Reporting: Prepare and generate financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis or as required by management.
6. Payroll Processing: Accurately calculate and process employee salaries, wages, benefits, and deductions. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and maintain records related to payroll transactions.
7. Tax Compliance: Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities, including providing necessary financial data to external accountants or tax advisors. Ensure accurate and timely filing of various tax returns.
8. Financial Analysis: Provide support in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and generating insights to assist management in making informed business decisions.
9. Audit Support: Prepare documentation and provide assistance during internal or external audits, ensuring that all financial records and transactions are well-documented and readily accessible.
10. Data Integrity: Maintain the integrity and security of financial data by implementing appropriate data control and security measures.
11. Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software and tools effectively to streamline processes and enhance accuracy in financial record keeping.
12. Communication: Collaborate with other departments and team members to gather necessary financial information, respond to inquiries, and provide financial insights as needed.
Requirements
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Proficiency in using any accounting software and MS Excel.
Effective communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
Ideal:
A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Personality/Attitude/Culture Preference:
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
