Job Summary: The Scheduler routinely schedules and coordinates patient appointments with provider, manages flow of information to healthcare providers, physicians, nursing staff, therapists, clerical staff, etc. as necessary to maintain operations, and prioritizes workload to facilitate efficient flow of information messages. The Scheduler also works with coworkers, other departments and outside companies, assisting with the provision of safe, efficient and quality patient care.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Schedules, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments, surgeries, procedures, etc. as needed and registers patients per department policy;
Facilitates accommodation of appointments, surgeries, procedures, etc. for requested dates and times when possible or tactfully offers alternatives;
Coordinates and confirms required outside services, supplies and equipment (if applicable) as procedures/appointments are scheduled;
Updates department schedule appropriately to reflect this information;
Communicates discrepancies or unavailability to Charge Nurse, Unit Supervisor, Manager or Director as soon as discovered;
Performs other essential duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Bilingual in Spanish/ Mandarin/ Russian;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Position requires a high degree of collaboration and customer service with both internal and external customers;
Minimum 1-2 years previous scheduling experience in a healthcare setting required;
Strong basic computer skills required;
Courteous and professional communication skills required to interact with internal and external customers;
Strong clerical and organizational skills needed to perform record keeping and scheduling duties.
