*The Backup Engineer new hire is expected to work from home for the mean time due to COVID. Once everything is back to normal, the Backup Engineer new hire will be expected to report in our IT Park office in Cebu.
General Description: The Backup Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing solutions for continuous data availability, integrity, backup, and protection.
Location: 8th floor Skyrise 4B Building, IT Park, Lahug, Cebu City, Cebu
Responsibilities:
Ensure that storage and backup solutions are implemented, maintained, and monitored effectively for MG Hosting Services' global technical environment
Implement storage-based solutions including storage consolidation, SAN, backup, and disaster recovery solution in line with a defined strategy
Define, design, execute and monitor solution testing
Diagnose and troubleshoot backup and storage-related issues
Provide technical assistance to the rest of the Infrastructure team
Perform routine backup policy changes and ensure that all backups are properly run and completed
Perform backup and restore on Windows, Linux, Unix, and NDMP filesystems
Perform backup and restore on Oracle, SQL, and Exchange databases
Provide technical resolution to incidents and problems related to backup and storage
Liaise with vendors in providing support for backup and storage-, software-, and hardware-related issues
Work together with IT managers, the Helpdesk Team, and other IT teams
Document operational best practices and procedures
Suggest service improvement ideas to management
Be on 24/7 on-call support as the dedicated backup engineer
Requirements:
Bachelor degree holder in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or any other relevant field
Experience with the following backup solutions: Veeam Software Symantec Backup Veritas NetBackup EMC NetWorker Druva InSync
Excellent knowledge of SAN, NAS, and tape libraries
Strong understanding of all IT security standards and products
Knowledge of Hypervisor, Nutanix, and VMWare is preferred
Knowledge of AWS S3, and Wasabi is a plus
Backup Administrator experience 2-3 years preferred
Willingness to work in a 24x7x365 Network Operations Center environment
Willing to report to work at 10PM-7AM from Monday to Friday (PHT)
Willing to report to work in office eventually once everything is back to normal (Cebu, IT Park)
