What are we looking for?
As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll process for our clients. This dynamic role involves fortnightly payroll preparation, addressing client inquiries, and providing detailed, accurate responses in alignment with Australian payroll legislation and client benefits policies. Additionally, you will be engaged in end-of-month reporting for multiple entities of varying sizes
What are you expected to do?
Payroll Administration:
Responding to all payroll inquiries from clients, ensuring detailed and accurate responses compliant with Australian payroll legislation and client policies
Obtaining and maintaining accurate records for new hires and departures before pay runs, addressing omissions or discrepancies
Payroll Processing:
Processing each client's payroll based on their specified schedule
Verifying backpay calculations and ensuring accuracy for employee variations, new starters, and departures
Applying approved staff deductions, reimbursements, and bonuses
Preparing variance reports and investigating and escalating payroll discrepancies promptly
Preparing the bank file (ABA file) and uploading it into client banking platforms
Ensuring compliance with relevant awards, legislation, and firm policies at all stages
Reporting:
Preparing accurate and insightful payroll reports after each client's pay run
Assisting with month-end reporting and reconciliations
Staying informed about changes in Australian payroll legislation and regulations
Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with taxation, superannuation, and statutory requirements
Preparing and submitting relevant reports to regulatory authorities
Maintaining comprehensive documentation of each payroll process

You have a minimum of 5 years Australian payroll experience, you bring proven experience to the table
You have strong proficiency in payroll software

There will be 3-4 interviews and a possible assessment from our client partner. You will undergo an initial interview, a culture interview, and 1-2 interviews with our cool client. This will run for about 1-2 weeks but we will let you know if we need to ramp it up. Be yourself and have fun.
