Job Description
The EEST is a function within the Project Controls and Estimating Department of Fluor that provides automation solutions to the community and supports Estimators in their daily work processes.
The Software Technician's main task is to design, recommend, and execute the solutions that are deemed appropriate for what has been requested by end users from different business lines and offices.
This position's task includes not only developing the software solutions, but also generating activity plans, developing user manuals, training materials, help screens and how-to instructional guides.
The position will require interfacing with subject matter experts on Estimating Tools, IT, the leadership, and the end users to clarify the details of source materials. In some instances, they will be asked to provide the training or demo of the product that has been completed.
The position is very dynamic. While they are expected to deliver on the automation solution, they are also expected to learn the estimating and engineering processes as their role is pivotal towards providing the quality and integrity that the user's output demands.
It is important that the candidate can adapt easily, communicate openly and be independent enough to deal with the workload given. Coordination and planning skills are big bonuses.

Basic Job Requirements
1. Evaluate and recommend solutions for tool development requests from estimators and occasionally, from project controllers.
2. Implement approved solutions that have been agreed upon, design and create computer application solutions in multiple platforms and programming languages or assist in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications, training programs and related courseware.
3. Provide support to end users on the proper use of the various software programs and tools or utilities that have been developed by EEST to achieve business objectives. This support includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal clients.
4. Provide technical guidance to users and managers.
5. Prepares and writes technical documents including, but not limited to, requirements checklists, technical specifications, test scripts, implementation plans, application support documents, and business proposals.
6. Aids testers and supports personnel as needed to determine system issues and challenges.
7. Directs, prepares, designs, codes, tests, debugs, and maintains computer programs.
8. Conducts system analysis and development.
9. Troubleshoots/analyzes infrastructure impact on both in-house and vendor provided applications.
10. Assists with user support of business applications and with the investigation of system requirements.
11. Other activities as directed by the supervisor or the like.
Skill Set:
Accredited 4-year degree/Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
At least a couple of years' experiences in developing software; preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
Programming knowledge in the following:
o C#
o Microsoft VBA
o Vbscript
o Java script
o The following are considered plusses:
groovy script
crystal reports
HTML (web-based programming)
(MSAccess) database creation and SQL programming (stored procedures, table indexing, etc.)
IIS Configuration
Advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheet design, including power queries and power pivots
Telephone support communication skills
Basic technical writing and editing
Strong English grammar
Create graphical illustrations and diagrams
Basic architecture/hardware knowledge is a bonus
Basic Citrix user knowledge is a bonus
Preferred Qualifications
Accredited degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or other technical discipline
Experience in computer systems or Information Technology (IT) support
