Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:The Assistant Laboratory Technician supports the daily operations of teaching
and research laboratories by retrieving and distributing materials, maintaining the
cleanliness and readiness of laboratory and stockroom areas, and performing
physical tasks as needed within the Department of Chemistry.Main Duties and Responsibilities:I. Laboratory Work Support
Retrieves and distributes materials and basic laboratory equipment required by students and instructors for experiments and research activities, as instructed by the Laboratory Technician
Organizes materials, chemicals, and basic laboratory equipment in stockrooms and laboratory areas to ensure easy, efficient, and safe access
Regularly checks that all apparatuses are properly secured when not in use
Performs the necessary cleanup such as spill containment and removal of broken glass in case of accidents and minor spills
II. Laboratory Maintenance Support
Cleans and maintains glassware, basic laboratory equipment, and laboratory work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment
Assists in the disposal of chemical waste by transporting waste to designated storage, under the guidance of the Laboratory Technician and Safety Officer
Replaces gas tanks and delivers distilled water and other supplies to the laboratories
Assists in building-related maintenance by performing regular and periodic maintenance checks of the Chemistry Department-assigned
laboratories and coordinating maintenance or repair requirements with
the Central Facilities Management Office (CFMO)III. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate
supervisor, or any authorized representative
Laboratory Operation and Management: Familiarity in laboratory procedures, operation, and maintenance; Ability to perform routine and preventive maintenance of basic laboratory equipment and facilities'
Safety Standards and Protocols: Familiarity with safety guidelines, protocols, and standards for laboratory environments, including hazard identification and emergency procedures.
Attention to Detail: Being careful about detail and thorough in completing
work tasks * Adaptable: Demonstrates adaptability across various laboratoryenvironments and a strong capacity to learn new procedures and set-ups * Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication tocoordinate with the instructors and laboratory technicians. * Collaboration and Coordination: Works effectively with faculty, laboratorytechnicians, and students to support laboratory operations and address

Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of any Bachelor's Degree
Previous work experience in a laboratory setting is preferred, but not required
