About your client:
Your client is a family-owned business in the transportation and industrial parts sector that has been operating for more than 150 years, since America's post-war reconstruction boom. Accounts Payable:
Duties and Responsibilities:
You will monitor and process documents through our document image capture software.
Monitor and disperse email in the accounting Outlook mailbox
Monitor, investigate, and resolve variances for vendors using electronic data interchange
Ensure proper handling and timely processing of electronic data files. Troubleshoot and resolve data transmission or content problems.
Run monthly reports to support wire payment to EDI vendors.
Prepare checks with the appropriate supporting documentation.
Enter non-EDI vendor invoices into the A/P sub-ledger.
Audit and process employee expense reports for payment.
Research on and answer vendor inquiries and inquiries from locations.
Print accounts payable reports and maintain accounts payable files, including reconciliation of vendor aging statements.
Prepare analysis of accounts, as required.
Assist with special projects, as necessary.
Accounts Receivable:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Transaction Processing Supervision:
Oversee timely and accurate completion of essential job duties and responsibilities documented in your job description.
Credit Management:
Review credit applications and recommend credit limits and terms for new customers.
Maintain the Customer Master File including address changes, new accounts, etc.
Manage customer accounts including communicating with customers about past due amounts, short pays, skipped invoices, outstanding credit memos, etc.
Focus on improving cash flow by managing terms and keeping customer accounts current.
Release orders on credit hold when appropriate.
Manage obtaining and mailing invoice copies for customers, as requested.
Process and mail monthly customer statements.
Research chargebacks, returns, and bad checks.
Assist with daily bank deposits for posting and deposit.
Code and oversee the entering of all cash/checks/credit card receipts along with other receipts from the branches.
Apply credit memos received from branches to corresponding invoices.
Process requests for refunds to customers received from the branches.
Research and respond to accounts receivable inquiries and issues.
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Manager as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus preferably 5 years of experience.
Good computer skills including experience with or aptitude for ERP systems in general and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Working knowledge of accounting concepts and principles are preferred.
Ability to comprehend simple to moderately complex instructions, write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors and other employees of the organization.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work well with colleagues and managers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise careful attention to detail.
