JOB SUMMARY
Provide direct nursing care and assistance to Eye Center patients. Provide assistance to medical doctors. Assess, develop, and implement, and evaluate a plan of nursing care for patients in an assigned area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Passed the Nursing Licensure Exam.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS
PATIENT MANAGEMENT
§ Assess the physical and psychosocial status of the patient by taking the patients vital signs and by interviewing the patient about personal data, medical history, allergies and health habits; performs careful and thorough physical examination on walk-in patients.
§ Prepare the patient, putting him/her at ease by explaining diagnostic procedures and answering questions/concerns of the patient; helps ensure complete documentation required for the procedure, including patient's consent.
§ Recognize deviations from normal in physical assessment. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating plans for health problems and follow up.
Carry out doctor's orders in conformity with policies and legal limitations.
§ Activate and set the controls / parameters on the Laser machines and related diagnostic equipment
§ Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
§ Provide symptom management for side effects related to treatment.
§ Identify and assess nursing problems - physical/ mental.
§ Assists in the performance of procedures and tests.
§ Create and maintains therapeutic environment by providing privacy, comfort and safety.
§ Arrange the equipment to be used in accordance with the treatment plan.
§ Assist patient before, during and after treatment /performance of required procedure.
§ Accomplishes and submits treatment sheet, patient record, photos and compact discs after each treatment / procedure.
§ Perform Fluorescein Angiogram, Biomery, Perimetry, Fundus Photo and other related procedures.
COMMUNICATION
§ Document and report care in an accurate, timely manner using appropriate forms and records.
§ Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
OTHERS
§ Performs other functions as may be assigned by immediate superior from time to time.
