Overview
Strategic Analytics is a dynamic, growing team at Arch. The team develops innovative predictive models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth. This position will support the technical implementation of predictive models and analytical tools of the Strategic Analytics team. The main skills needed are someone who has extensive experience with foundational SQL knowledge, as well as user-facing application support, Python, and cloud-based experience. The role is for an individual who is open to trying new methodologies and using technologies for innovative analytics applications, as the team is dynamic and the technology needs and requirements are fluid and will evolve over time.
As Predictive Analytics Application Developer, Strategic Analytics Services, you will play a crucial role in developing applications to bridge the gap between predictive models and end users. You will work closely with IT on high-profile analytics projects that drive the company's decision-making and strategy. As a key member of the Strategic Analytics team, you will advance our integration of predictive analytics within various business units and processes.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with data scientists, business partners, and IT to develop and implement software applications using Python, R, SQL, Databricks Notebooks, and/or Azure Data Factory.
Build strong partnerships with peers across the organization to support analytics-based business decisions and improved technical system workflows.
Continuously build on our team's development and testing efficiencies and help develop best practices to improve Strategic Analytics models speed to market and consistent in future projects.
Ensure data quality and integrity through appropriate documentation and reconciliation. Recommend, communicate, and implement appropriate remedies to address data quality issues.
Help guide junior developers in the implementation of predictive analytics applications, and assist with the work effort as appropriate.
Discover and explore new technologies, tools, and packages with curiosity and creativity.
Manage requirements and design of predictive analytics applications throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in SQL development.
3+ years of experience in executing testing strategies and conducting quality assurance testing.
3+ years implementing predictive models (in the P&C insurance industry is a plus).
3+ years of experience in Python is a plus.
2+ years of experience in working in Azure cloud-based technologies is a plus.
Project Management or similar experience is a plus.
Additional certificates in relevant technologies from a university or online program is a plus.
Required Skills/Experience
Thorough understanding of impact of architecture and design choices related to end-user experience and decision making processes.
Ability to report and resolve technical defects/bugs in an efficient and timely manner
A mindset of continued learning, and the desire to explore new technologies, create new processes, and understand how data can be used to drive change.
Ability to operate independently by managing tasks and engaging people across the team.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex concepts.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Education
College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent.
