Overall Role PurposeThe Regional Airfreight Gatekeeper facilitates the execution of an improved global tender process for airfreight product. The GK formulates a pricing strategy for selected bids including and not limited to: providing value proposition; translate bid strategy, customer requirements and network fit. Overall purpose is to proactively support corresponding rate offering for competitive and profitable pricing resulting into winning commercial offering. The GK analyses and quantifies business risks and exposures to support fact-based decision making by the relevant senior management stakeholders.Key Activities:RFQ qualification and Pre-bid discussion
Analysis of customer profitability & business impact
Check key lanes, cargo density, shipping profile (weight & no. of shipments) and capacity requirements
Validation & challenging of business cases presented by Commercial Owners
Engage Airfreight Product Management in exploring all possibilities uplift & routing options for optimal results and meet customer capacity requirements.
Analysis and quantification of risks and exposures
Identify customer non-standard T&Cs relating to AFR pricing and provide approval and/or counter proposal.
Flag out to Stakeholders and SME the exposure to facilitate MSA/legal contract approval process if needed.
Review Fuel Surcharge Models, Bonus/Malus Programs, Penalty Requirements and provide recommendations accordingly.
Management of 'provisions' based on customer T&C's
Formulation of pricing guidelines:
Translate business requirements based on RFQ documents, contracts and Commercial inputs into pricing instructions for involved regional and country ACCs. Provide guidelines to clear unambiguous instructions.
Sanity checks and pricing submission:
Ensure completeness, consistency and competitiveness of rate submission for Lead and Support Global RFQs.
Check pricing instructions are being followed and ensure quality and timely submission of countries.
Utilize various benchmarking tools (MTS, CPK, RABIT, ORBIT and WACD)
and challenge pricing as necessary with CACC/RACC.
Translation of IPT to CPT for submission including Pricing Remarks.
Provide high-level overview and initiate rate review calls.
Support on re-rounds, final offers & award
Prepares gap analysis, round on round comparison based on customer feedback and additional pricing instruction.
Supports walk-away decision
Initiate uploading of rates in CW1
Support Continuous Improvement Processes:
Engage in non-RFQ opportunities when needed, such as RFQ Avoidance, Rate Extension or Pricing Refresh exercises
Shorten turn-around times & improve quality
Validation of market price levels on key lanes + origin / destination handling and transport
Support the implementation of business from RFQ so that conditions & rates as approved are followed
Others:
As needed/required by AFR Product.
