The Role
Tala's Philippines office is looking for a detail-oriented and dynamic hands-on accounting manager with experience working in a rapidly growing, hands-on, start-up environment. This position requires excellent communication, an ability to think critically and creatively, attention to detail and a team-oriented attitude. The responsibilities of the role are as follows.
What You'll Do
Lead all aspects of the local Tala's accounting department which includes, but is not limited to, closing process for month, quarter and year end, audited financial statements, general ledger, portfolio accounting, payroll, accounts payable, reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Follow corporate policies and procedures such as invoice processing, cash management, and expense policies.
Manage internal practices, policies, and all accounting to ensure compliance within the Philippines
Implement or enhance processes to further streamline and enable more accurate and timely reporting.
Ensure accurate and timely production of all financial informationResponsible for the local tax compliance of Tala in the Philippines with the support of our tax advisors in the Philippines and the Global Controller from the HQs.
Be the primary point of contact for our local tax advisors and auditors in the country.
Supervise the accounting staff.
Ad Hoc projects as they arise, we are a start-up after all!
What you'll need:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsIntrinsically motivated by attention to detail and quality of work
Experience in local tax compliance in the Philippines.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Field.
8+ years of progressive experience in the accounting and finance sector including a Minimum of 4 years in Public Accounting (Preferably BIG 4) and 2 years in a managerial role.
Local PH CPA
Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Netsuite
Experience working for a global company with teams and offices located in different geographies and time zones.
Experience working in consumer financeExperience working with IFRS reportingConscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.
Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over the same.
Exceptional work ethic.
