Role and General Information
Finance and Accounting domain is looking for a permanent Financial Accountant. This role reports directly to one of the Senior Accountants of General Accounting team.
The Accountant should have a mindset as "Chief Accountant" of legal entity/entities he/she is responsible for. This involves high interaction and collaboration across different functions in APAC corporate finance, Staffing Services, and with Regional Process Owners.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Accountant is primarily responsible on financial accounting of assigned legal entities in APAC region which includes the following but not limited to:
Month End Closing: Complete monthly closing of books; prepare and record assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information; and calculate and post cost and corporate allocations.
Financial Analysis and Reporting: Summarize financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, other financial statements and provide relevant analysis on account'sflux and trend
Intercompany Accounting: Maintain and balance intercompany accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving intercompany out of balances.
Bank Reconciliation: Perform weekly reconciliation of bank accounts, resolve discrepancies between book and bank statement balances by coordinating with Treasury, Payroll, Accounts Payable or Receipting team.
Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliation: Prepare monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation, discuss risks and opportunities by analyzing ageing and outstanding items.
Tax Reporting: Collaborate with tax team on timely preparation, payment and filing of tax returns
Statutory and Compliance: Assist on external and internal audits by providing relevant information to auditors. Evaluate internal controls for all key processes; Test the current operations and tweak the design of existing process and financial controls.
Budgeting: Assist in preparation of annual budget by giving valuable insights to business units' heads.
Stakeholder Management: Determine and assess client and key stakeholder's requirements, ensuring that these are met. Build and sustain good working relationship with In-country finance teams.
Knowledge management: Create and help maintain desktop procedure (DTP) on in-scope processes, ensuring compliance in ISO standards.
Process Improvement: Think how to optimize activities, apply 80:20 rule and support all process improvements implementations.
Qualifications
Solid understanding of financial accounting framework, including application of Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Ability to communicate well in accounting parlance with clients, auditors, managers, and colleagues within the organization effectively and assertively
Excellent in critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Demonstrates leadership skills and customer-focused attitude
Excellent interpersonal and service delivery skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and ability to interact with employees and stakeholders at all levels
Deadline driven and able to assist in multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Ability to work effectively in a high growth and rapidly changing environment
Drives new ideas, flexible and adaptable to change
Ability to learn continuously such as emerging industry standards, tools and applications
Ability to provide expert advice on financials, internal controls assessments, risks and audit exposures
Maintain objectivity and ensure guarding of financial information and confidential data
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram
Knowledgeable in using Microsoft 365 applications and ERP systems
Advanced MS Excel skills: VBA macro is plus
Minimum Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy and at least three (3) years of work experience
Certified Public Accountant is desired
Certified Accounting Technician or other equivalent certifications
Expertise in financial accounting, controls and compliance policies, procedures, and operationswithin the BPO/Shared Service industry
Experience in dealing with external audit, tax audit and internal audit
Asian language capability is a plus (Japanese, Chinese/Cantonese)
