The Accountant is an integral part of the Finance team providing ongoing support to Senior Management. The focus of the role is varied and provides exposure to financial accounting, reporting and taxation management.
Responsibilities:
Reconcile and report daily on bank account transactions.
Maintain and respond to email inbox enquiries.
Daily cash balance reconciliation and reporting
Manage the AP & AR process - ensuring accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and accounts receivable is collected promptly.
Liaise with overseas operations to ensure financial accounting requirements are met
Collate internal sales reporting and share it with internal management
Prepare submissions for sales tax, BAS and activity statements Australian Payroll tax submission (monthly and annually)
Prepare reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, intercompany loan accounts and clearing accounts
Oversight of assistant accountant activities and operations, including first point of contact for training, queries and issues
Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
Assist preparation of financial statements including monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
Assisting in the preparation of budgets and reporting of actuals vs budgets for review by management
Ad hoc projects and tasks as directed by manager (e.g. process change or improvement initiatives, analytical reviews, reporting enhancements etc.)
Support the Finance team on month-end activities including calculating accruals, performing costs allocations, and reconciling balance sheet items.
Personal attributes:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Must be Certified Public Accountant
Previous experience working with Australian Clients
Knowledgeable of different accounting software (QuickBooks, MYOB, Xero, etc)
Knowledge of current accounting and tax practices.
Familiarity with basic accounting principles including bank reconciliations, fixed asset registers and pre-payments and accruals.
Exposure to customer invoicing and accounts receivable.
The ability to learn quickly and apply your knowledge to contribute to team outcomes.
Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience interacting with a wide range of people.
Proven success in managing your time and meeting deadlines.
