Key Responsibilities:
Funds (Grant) management and reporting (35%)
Responsible for the end-to-end process in finance of receiving funding, allocating it, tracking it, and sending it to MFIs
Establish and maintain a stable working relationship with the Fundraising team
Collaborate closely with the Fundraising team on donations received
Responsible for preparing the Funding cumulative file and report.
Ensure that expenses on grants that are incurred at VFI are tracked and recorded.
Provide knowledge and expertise for the improvement of the funding processes.
Reconcile funds received and funds sent; prepare monthly/quarterly funding reports as necessary.
Support donor funding
Financial management and reporting (25%)
Complete the monthly management accounts activities including the passing of month-end journal entries.
Prepare monthly schedules and reconciliations.
Prepare monthly budget analysis for VFI departments
Prepare schedules necessary for year-end audit testing and assist in audit preparation and execution.
Accounts Receivable management (25%)
Establish and maintain VFI Accounts receivable process for billing, collection, and tracking of all intercompany receivables from MFIs
Communicate regularly with Regional VFI and MFI staff and distribute monthly statements for accounts receivable
External Audit (10%)
Prepare schedules and analyses to support the annual statutory audit.
Others (5%)
Carry out additional responsibilities and projects as assigned, including team, leadership and planning functions
Attend and participate in meetings and devotions.
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE:
Required Professional Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
Certified Public Accountant
At least 3-5 years of related professional experience, preferably with exposure to corporate financial systems.
Has advanced knowledge, skills and experience in MS Office, with extremely strong MS Excel skills.
Knowledge of financial and accounting processes, payment systems, etc, which could have been gained from work experience in treasury, accounting, or related fields.
Experience using accounting software systems.
Ability to learn quickly in an environment with large amounts of information and will need problem solving skills and quantitative reasoning. Analytical skills and financial literacy will be critical for handling the analysis assignments in this role.
Has very strong analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Confident communicating at different levels within the organization - proven high quality verbal and written communication.
Demonstrated ability to think independently and critically, self-learn and self-manage, and perform detailed and complex analysis. Has the confidence and competence to identify problems and recommend solutions and best practices.
Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:
Experience in Financial Reporting and understanding finance and accounting is an advantage
Preferably has experience in Grant management.
