Job Description
The Account Manager's primary responsibility is to manage Clients and their business. As a part of this management, they are responsible for providing a business point of contact for the client. They report to the Sales Manager. Account Managers will ensure company policy and procedures are followed and maintained.
This position requires a high level of independence, business acumen, strong client service and skills. Organizational ability is important to keep track of all tasks. Accurate and timely monitoring of client work, service calls, and related documentation is desired.
The Account Manager meets with vCIOs regularly to ensure the client is being serviced appropriately from the sales side of the business.
In addition, in between regular client touchpoints, the Account Manager is available for product and services quoting to our existing client base.
Account Manager Attributes and Characteristics:
Knowledge of the product stack that is available to the client
Able to pick vendors and supplier to get the best prices on the best products for the product stack
Ability to effectively communicate with business owners in a meaningful way
Maintain a deep and current understanding of each client's business situation, business needs and IT environment, translating those needs into service and product requirements
Remain knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading client strategies
Track all account activity in the Professional Services Automation (PSA) system
Identify and action renewals of product and software licenses
Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a technology plan that supports client needs
Identify trends and develop strategies to support these trends
Create opportunities, when appropriate and follow-up activities.
Utilize the proposal tool to initiate proposals to clients.
Conducts daily sales for clients when received directly from the client. (Peripherals, consumables, etc.)
Position Responsibilities:
Client Retention and Client Satisfaction
Procurement of product and software
Manages our relationship with assigned clients and to that end, supports the vCIOs.
Assist with the preparation of QBRs, when needed.
Preparation of proposals and acceptance of orders from clients
Maintain proper margin on products ordered
Ensure orders are completed in a timely and accurate manner 100% of the time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Drive to keep up on current and future technologies on a broad level
o Ability to quickly learn new technologies
o Enjoys helping people to the extent that no problem is considered mundane, no matter how simple the solution
o Enjoys sharing information, supporting others, and working on a team to achieve team goals
o Skill in preparing written communications and materials
Credentials and Experience:
Bachelor's or associate degree.
Three to eight years related experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Promotion:
Strong positive client feedback, considered highly trusted area expert
Track record of retaining clients, growing client investment in their technology environment, and limited churn
Strong closer of business, able to give presentations and give seminars
Maintain existing and/or achieve new industry-relevant credentials or certifications
Primary contact on many accounts able to drive business across multiple practices
May grow into position of vCIO or transition to Outside Sales
