Job Summary:
The Workshop Controller is responsible for the efficient running of the workshop, ensuring all work is carried out safely, on time, and to the required quality standards. The role includes managing technicians, coordinating work schedules, maintaining productivity, and ensuring excellent customer service.Key Responsibilities:
Allocate work to technicians based on skills and job priority.
Monitor and manage workshop productivity and efficiency.
Ensure jobs are completed within specified timeframes and meet quality standards.
Communicate with service advisors and customers on job progress, costs, and timelines.
Maintain accurate job records and ensure all paperwork is completed correctly.
Supervise workshop staff, provide technical support and resolve issues as they arise.
Enforce health and safety regulations and ensure a clean and safe work environment.
Order necessary parts and liaise with the parts department for timely delivery.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training where needed.
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated.
Provide feedback to management regarding workshop performance and improvements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Technical qualification in automotive/mechanical engineering (e.g., NVQ, Diploma, or equivalent).
3-5 years of experience in a workshop environment; prior supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
