Roles and Responsibilities
The client is seeking an imaginative Web Designer for our creative team. We're a zero-emissions tech company that provides sustainable upgrades, gear, and accessories for professionals across the globe. The right candidate will have a passion for visually compelling web designs. You'll also need to know how to implement current trends in user experience, typography, layout, image-handling, and colour.
Day-to-day Responsibilities Include
- Create high fidelity mock-ups for large and small-scale design initiatives
- Visually position our brand and products
- Digitally interface with our friendly, forward-thinking creative team
- Put the latest design trends to work on our website and product packaging
- Balance a variety of projects while maintaining brand standards and a cohesive user experience
- Drive end to end interaction design: collaborating with eCommerce Development teams in the design of the information architecture and defining how the user navigates and interact with the product
- Utilize best practices for grids, Material UI, SEO, and accessibility to create visual designs
- Work with the eCommerce and Creative Design teams to define and maintain UI/UX and SEO standards that ensure uniformity across OWC's web properties
- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to quickly iterate based on consultation with product owners, business stakeholders, and quality assurance professionals
- Create visual graphics and animation with a compelling, consistent look and style across all company websites
- Demonstrate custom web design skills that show creativity and novelty beyond applying third-party templates
- Collaborate with the creative team members to determine the conceptual and visual direction of creative deliverables.
- Interact with project teams (sales, marketing, creative) to understand business objectives and audience demographics
- Accurately scope and estimate resource and personal time allotments to meet creative project requirements
- Understand and incorporate feedback from internal team and client direction
- Further education by staying up to date on best practices, business trends, and emerging designs in the field of user experience and visual design
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional website design experience (focus on eCommerce)
- Portfolio demonstrating beautiful high-fidelity website designs
- Responsive website design experience with an understanding of both desktop first and mobile first approaches
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, communication design, user experience, web design and development, or work experience equivalent
A Successful Candidate must have
- Artistic skill and ability to produce original graphics (icons, symbols, logos, etc.)
- Ability to provide detailed, comprehensive design specification documents to the developer team for implementation
- Ability to integrate UX into Agile development practices
- Dedication to the end user experience, advocating for your customer base, and understanding of how to drive users to conversion
VAbility to verbally and visually communicate design rationale behind solutions provided
- A desire for solving UX challenges and problems that result in simple and efficient user experiences
- A history of working across the entire design process from user research, ideation, prototyping and iteration, high and low fidelity design, developer hand-off, developer iteration review
- Management skills for multiple projects prioritization to meet deadlines
- Capability to manage multiple product environments, user accounts, and test data
- Experience working closely with development teams to bring designs to real world Front End application interface
- Excellent communication skills, presentation ability, and a problem solving mindset
- Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills; the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Self starter mindset and the ability to take ownership of your area of expertise
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Good understanding of agile design and development methodologies and process
- Open to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong "teamwork" orientation
