Job Description
Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CEA expert, with strong experience in the development and operation of a pilot vertical farm facility. Our facility will serve as a testing ground for the development and evaluation of various technologies to optimize crop production and resource efficiency, ahead of potential scaling at NEOM. The successful candidate will be charged with managing its development and construction, as well as its operation. Responsibility will also encompass assessing component technologies from technical, operational and financial standpoints and ensuring the production of high-quality produce for commercial use. This pilot will shape our indoor farming strategy expertise in engineering, horticulture and project management will play a vital role in ensuring the success of this pioneering project

The pilot vertical farm manager will lead our work on vertical farming as part of our diversified strategy for producing food efficiently and sustainably under desert conditions
Position Description And Responsibilities
Technology Selection and Development:
Perform due diligence on available vertical farming technologies to identify promising systems.
Oversee the installation and setup of the technologies, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.
Facility Operation and Management:
In collaboration with suppliers, ensure the development and implementation of comprehensive operational plans for each technology to achieve maximum crop yield and resource efficiency.
Supervise day-to-day activities, including planting, irrigation, nutrient management, pest control, and harvesting.
Regularly monitor and adjust environmental parameters to create ideal growing conditions for different crops.
Performance Comparison and Data Analysis:
Design and conduct performance trials, capturing relevant data on yield, resource consumption, and crop quality.
Analyze and interpret data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement for each technology.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on the findings to inform decision-making and drive further innovation.
Team Leadership and Development:
Recruit, train, and manage a team of specialists to assist in day-to-day operations and data collection.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, providing guidance and support to team members.
Facility Maintenance and Safety:
Ensure the maintenance of equipment and infrastructure in the facility, promptly addressing any technical issues.
Develop and enforce safety protocols to safeguard team members and the facility's assets.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, marketing, and finance, to share insights and align goals.
Present progress updates and outcomes to company stakeholders, investors, and potential partners.
Background, Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Proven track record in the development and the operation of advanced vertical farm facilities.
5-10 years managerial experience of CEA production in a commercial context
Excellent leadership and team management abilities
Strong background in the management of complex projects
Strong result orientation: technical, operational and financial
Experience of modern trial and research methods, data collection and analysis
Capacity to deliver in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage change
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage partnerships
Fluent English (speaking and written)
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent in horticulture, agricultural engineering or related field.
