JOB DESCRIPTION
The Verification of Benefits Specialist is responsible for contacting insurance companies to verify patient insurance coverage. The VOB Specialist ensures insurance coverage by telephone and online insurance portals.
JOB QUALIFICATION
SCHEDULE: 8 AM – 5 PM Mountain Standard Time, follows Philippine Holidays
POSITION TYPE: Full Time
WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·       Perform insurance verifications for a variety of carriers
·       Correspond with a variety of insurance companies
·       Verify patient benefits
·       Obtain any out-of-pocket or out-of-network costs for the patient
·       Verify codes that need preauthorization
QUALIFICATIONS
·       A Bachelor’s degree in the related field
·       A minimum of 2 years of insurance verification experience is preferred
·       Billing software experience is a bonus
·       Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training and/or certification is highly desired
·       Must be able to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer and telephone for the duration of the regularly scheduled shift
·       Must be able to perform written and oral communications effectively and efficiently with co-workers, insurance representatives, clients, and patients
·       Must be able to proficiently utilize the following computer programs such as Excel, Word, Web browsers, Outlook and Google Sheets
·       Must be able to read, understand and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, procedure manuals, or governmental regulations
·       Must have great attention to detail in both reading and following instructions
·       Experience in a multi-client environment
·       Aptitude in data management, analytics, reporting preparation
·       Ability to function in an autonomous environment—independent worker, self-directed
