About the role
You would perform cloud-based bookkeeping, accounting, and analysis for clients across Canada, while also leading strategic initiatives to grow and improve the firm. You would work remotely but also closely with company's co-founders who prioritize learning, a collaborative culture and provide mentorship along the way. Your responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Take ownership of bookkeeping, accounts payable and reporting responsibilities for a portfolio of clients utilizing a variety of cloud-based software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Receipt Bank, Hubdoc, Plooto, etc.) with a focus on quality, timeliness, and alignment to Canadian accounting standards.
Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings utilizing cloud-based payroll software.
Prepare monthly financial analysis and reporting, including participation in client discussions via Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams.
Onboard new clients by setting up related tasks in AMLB's industry-leading workflow management tool, ensuring client communications and recurring activities are created and scheduled accurately.
Enhance sustainability and effectiveness of key processes by recording training videos and creating step-by-step procedures.
Lead improvement initiatives by identifying process and experience pain points, analyzing root causes, and implementing sustainable changes.
Proactively research, identify, test, and implement cloud-based tools to digitize and automate low-value, repetitive tasks.
Skills and Experience
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) or equivalent with at least two years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Prioritizes honesty, integrity, and confidentiality to develop high-trust relationships with colleagues and clients.
Self-starter who works well autonomously and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enhance client and team experiences.
Strong attention to detail and due dates to produce high quality deliverables on time.
Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Teams in particular) and a passion for technology.
Strong understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax compliance regime
Demonstrated adaptability and agility to test and quickly learn new concepts and tools.
