Job Spec for bookkeeper job (UK Accountant)
UK Accountant responsibilities include:
·Recording day to day financial transactions and completing the posting process
·Verifying that transactions are recorded correctly in the supplier ledger, customer ledger and nominal/general ledger
·Reconciling all control accounts (bank, customers, suppliers, PAYE)
·Enter month/period-end journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation)
·Bringing the books to the trial balance stage
·Preparation, review and submission of VAT returns
·Possibly prepare management accounts and reports
Requirements and skills
·Proven bookkeeping experience
·Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
·Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
·Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
·Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.)
·Proficiency in English
·Customer service contact occasionally
·High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
