The Data Center Controller Lead/ Manager will be a part of the highly functioning team that operates and maintains our data center in a highly cost effective, efficient manner. The data center operations team operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and cooling systems in the region. Our data centers operations are accountable for monitoring, administering, and coordinating the data center health and uptime, control and monitoring systems and the general facility related upkeep. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the engineering teams and the operations team's ability to keep the facility running, ensuring our users have the best experience possible.
Job description and accountabilities
The Data Center - Controller Lead/ Manager will be responsible and have ownership for controlling and administering the performance and availability of data center facilities and systems. The Data Center - Controller Lead/ Manager is responsible for the operation of the data center hardware, software and network that administers and monitors the electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems in the data center. The role requites accountability for coordination with related parties, mostly operation team, to ensure health and uptime, control and administering systems and the general facility related upkeep. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels. Qualified candidates must also have experience functioning in a large-scale data center and have demonstrated and displayed the ability to think outside of the box
Technical responsibilities are:
Responsible for managing and administering for software, hardware and network communication of BMS and DCIM/EMS
Manage and monitor electrical diagrams, mechanical diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC, switch gear, UPS, CCTV and Access Control, to ensure captured in DCIM/BMS
Ensure Data Center BMS and DCIM/EMS controls are deployed in accordance with scope of work (SOW) and specifications.
Provide input to projects to increase current facility efficiency and performance
Review and provide feedback on mechanical and electrical schematic configuration and provide solution proposal to IT team
Review and provide proposal/feedback on design of Controllers/sensors logic programming, control sequence and graphical user interface and provide solution proposal to system supplier
Change Management review and approval and ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices and procedures
Writing, reviewing, and approving of technical documents such as procedures and emergency operations
Ensure all data logs are recorded in a timely manner and always accessible
Involve in Incident Management such as performing controllers root cause analysis.
Responsible for asset and inventory management including spare parts and logistic of DCIM/BMS
Schedule and supervise regular maintenances for BMS and DCIM
Monitor and dispatch alarm to Operation team and participate in an on-call during and event, critical activity and incident
Develop and provide Facility Performance Report in the form of Dashboard, Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Report. The report will be accessible via Web and mobile web. Any notification for abnormality is required to provide.
Lead Facility Performance regular meeting internally and external
Ensure database of facility infrastructure updated in timely manner, and ensure all new equipment and racks are included
Perform system tweak to improve facility performance and energy efficiency/ optimization
Manage and monitor BMS and EPMS programming, graphics, and integration solutions.
Working in a 7x24 environment with on call and call in requirements and responding outside of normal business hours will be required
Available for emergency on-call and shift work including midnights, weekends.
Fulfilling Change Requests cases
Dealing with Event and Incidents and the related reports and escalations
Assist with Data Center performance and analytics to improve the DC performance
Help create and/or provide feedback on Data Center procedures and process.
Willingness to enhance existing skill sets
Other Ad Hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications required
At least a Bachelors' degree in Information technology or computer science from a reputable university
Excellent IT/Computer/Networking Skills
Technical Skills required
Programming Skill and Experience (Web, Database, Mobile Apps, Dashboard)
At least 2 years' experience working Data Center Operation or Digital Operation Center or Network Operation Center
Excellent knowledge of DCIM, BMS, EMS monitoring and Control Systems
Excellent knowledge of ITSM, and Case/Ticket management systems
Basic knowledge of Power systems (UPS', RPPs, PDUs) and Cooling systems (HVACs, air flow dynamics)
Basic knowledge of pumps, compressors, boilers, chillers, facility HVAC systems is necessary
Basic knowledge of UPS systems and associated Switchgear
Basic knowledge of standby generator systems and associated Switchgear
Basic knowledge of sprinkler systems/fire alarms systems testing, building management systems.
PC Skills - working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Google Apps.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
Basic knowledge of L1/L2/L3 multilayer Ethernet switching environments & associated protocols
