The Development Manager will help XLD build out and drive the digital payments & wallet development of features, which includes structuring product developments, and leading agile squads to deliver solutions for XLD's wallet business. The Development Manager is in charge of developing the product solutions. Be able to create and plan requirements, interface between the requirements and the company's deliverables. Ability to work with the different departments of the company to gather inputs and resources.
The Development Manager will work with the technical product manager, platform architect and infrastructure manager and head of payments. Manages the activities of developers/engineers for developing the product for the company. Strategic planning is a key part of this job description, since he/she is the responsible to deliver the pipeline of products. The role will require to have a strong entrepreneurial mindset, ability to create strategic relationships and identifying opportunities working with cross-country and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Leading the data engineering team, to architect, evolve & maintain the data infrastructure and data pipeline of the company.
Leading a team of engineers to help to build our products & services to support the business and provide solutions to issues and problems.
Leading the technical program management team, and work with various technology and engineering teams to help to drive critical technology group initiatives, and improve technology governance & compliance. Define, collect & report metrics and indicators to make sure that Technology Group is performing efficiently, effectively and with continuous improvement. Establish, review and refine development policies & processes.
Drive various aspects of engineering excellence including but not limiting to improving the product engineering's CI/CD pipeline, increasing the frequency of releases while maintaining the quality of builds, improving the performance of our various systems, making our services more robust & resilient, etc.
Technical recruitment, target setting, performance management, training and assignment of work for engineers
Working closely with other product engineering teams to make sure required platform capabilities are incorporated in the platform roadmap
Reviewing functional specifications, design changes, choices of technology and/or tools, and assisting in code reviews
Work closely with the Product Manager and Platform Architect
Requirements
BS in computer science or related fields
Track records in leading & driving complex technology or engineering initiatives
Software development & engineering team management experience
Expertise in management and deployment of cloud computing applications and infrastructure
Exposure to mobile money, payment services, e-commerce or related product development
Exposure to regulated environment in financial sector
Excellent communication and people skills, with ability to work across departments and to present findings to C-level executives
