Job Description This role will be responsible for leading reinsurance treaty initiatives in Asia and will become the subject matter expert for all aspects of reinsurance accounting and reporting within Asia. This will involve analysis of reinsurance results, presenting analytical findings and the review and implementation of new reinsurance treaties, ensuring consistent and accurate implementation of reinsurance calculations and accounting models across Asia operations. The incumbent will also be expected to manage and own special projects related to the implementation of new accounting standards, operational initiatives, and treaty agreements. These projects will involve interacting and working directly with Global Finance, IT and Actuarial teams. Essential Responsibilities: (Allocate the percent of total working time spending on each accountability, which should add up to 100%) Individual Responsibilities: Prepare reinsurance settlements and analytical reporting for internal and external treaties across multiple accounting bases (IFRS, local, Bermuda and Barbados) for complex reinsurance treaties (25%) Compile and review reinsurance related footnote disclosures and reinsurance related Local & Reinsurance Statement schedules (5%) Facilitate Regulatory reporting (5%) Shared Responsibilities: Present reinsurance financial results to management on a quarterly basis (5%) Define and evaluate new reinsurance treaty accounting models and calculation methodologies (30%) Collaborate with global IT, Actuarial, Finance and Investments teams to manage changes in systems and processes due to new accounting standards, operational initiatives or new treaty agreements to ensure timeliness and integrity of financial data necessary to calculate and record treaty activity (25%) Mentor and share best practices with other team members (5%) This job description does not represent a comprehensive listing of job duties that are required of the employee performing this role. Job Requirements: Finance or Accounting degree CPA designation a plus 6+ years of relevant experience in finance and accounting Ability to learn and apply a large amount of technical accounting material Dedicated to continual process improvement with strong internal controls and ability to adapt well to change Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel and Access Experience with and knowledge of Essbase is an asset Knowledge of insurance industry and reinsurance is an asset Strong written and oral communication skills Competencies: Must be well-organized, innovative, and possess a high level of initiative. Curiosity and a commitment to understand complex financial transactions is essential.
