Job Description
S&P Global Commodity Insights
The Team: The Research Operations team provides high-quality client and market research to global Commercial teams and top executives so they can successfully navigate client negotiations and event interactions. The team also provides extensive research support to help Commercial teams pursue growth opportunities, from identifying new logo prospects to exploring whitespace plays. This position will also be responsible for leveraging the full capabilities of technology and programming tools (Visual Basic for Applications [VBA], SQL, Python) to create new and/or enhanced reports, processes, or solutions for Research Operations.
Responsibilities:
Account Planning and Lead Generation Support
Support one of the global Sales Regions (APAC and EMEA)
Produce high-quality account plans by compiling and analyzing client data and news gathered from company websites, internal databases (CapIQ, SFDC, Finance team, usage platforms) and trustworthy third-party sources to support Sales Reps
Generate lead generation lists, reports, and analyses to support Hunter Sales Reps (New Business Managers)
Liaise with regional stakeholders to ensure all support requests are addressed on time and within their unique requirements
Develop strong knowledge of Commodity Insights products and PRG Sales methodology, ensuring all output is aligned with Commercial strategy and processes
Collaborate with other Research Operations analysts on regional or global projects
Contribute to weekly and monthly releases (Global Market Monitor, Executive Monitor, Divestitures Report), newsletters, and stakeholder reports
Champion the unique needs of your regional stakeholders during new product or process development but also help manage expectations in coordination with Research Operations team lead
Product Development and Enhancement
Lead the technical development of new or enhanced Research Operations products that support Commodity Insights Commercial teams in account planning, lead generation, and other priority areas as they emerge
Manage the technical development cycle from stakeholder consultation, solution ideation, prototyping, testing, and release to the Research Operations workflow and CI Commercial organization
Liaise with CI Commercial stakeholders across all Sales regions to identify potential technology-enabled enhancement ideas or new products
Analyze feedback received by Research Operations across various touchpoints to prioritize enhancement ideas or new products
Ensure technical solutions are developed in a timely manner and meet stakeholder requirements
Conduct technical demos for stakeholders and be able to communicate the value of the solution even for a non-technical audience
Develop success metrics for new products in coordination with Research Operations Team Lead and be accountable for capturing these metrics for stakeholder reporting
Participate in ad-hoc Commercial projects involving Research Operations and requiring technology and/or programming expertise
Process Automation and Optimization
Lead efforts in process automation and optimization for Research Operations to reduce turnaround time, minimize errors due to manual steps, and/or improve output quality. These efforts can be in the form of formal Lean projects or other process enhancement initiatives.
Define key results for process automation and optimization solutions and be accountable for capturing these metrics for stakeholder reporting
Maintain a repository of use cases for technology tools and programming languages
Coordinate with product owners, process leads or project managers to ensure new processes are defined
Conduct training on the new processes, as needed
Lead regular process review sessions to identify process enhancement ideas
What We're Looking For:
BS in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or other technical courses
3-5 years experience in Sales, Sales Operations, Market Research or Product Development
Strong analytical background with experience in data modeling and manipulation to develop new reports and data solutions that provide insights to stakeholders
Intermediate Excel skills (Pivot tables, Macros, If statements)
Intermediate programming skills (Visual Basic for Applications [VBA], SQL, Python, R)
Experience across various Commercial technology tools and platforms (Alteryx, Tableau, SFDC). Data science and data visualization experience preferred.
Proven ability to develop automation solutions and other process optimization initiatives
Dynamic collaborator with ability to navigate competing agendas and diverse cultural backgrounds of stakeholders
Creative problem solver that can handle complex challenges and ever-changing demands and priorities in a fast-paced Commercial organization
Strong time management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects at any given time
Proven ability to work with global teams in a diverse and complex organization
Excellent attention to detail and unwavering commitment to deliver high-quality output
