The role of the Structural Design Engineer encompasses a pivotal responsibility in enhancing the design and advancement of engineering components within their specific discipline. This includes the establishment of a strong foundational design, generation of diverse design alternatives, and refining the chosen designs to achieve peak performance levels.
Duties and responsibilities:
Participate in the design of engineering elements in respective discipline, including establishing design basis, development of options and optimization of selected design.
Uses knowledge of general application of principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards to perform Structural Engineering Design.
Can independently work on projects or under general supervision of senior engineer/team lead, manager.
Calculate and organizes data for Structural Engineering calculations, drawings and reports
Prepare specifications and/or operating instructions
Participate in planning, cost development and scheduling for assigned projects
Maintains effective communication with project team members
Perform site inspection to site prior to bidding to ensure that work will be in accordance with the site conditions and specifications of the client
Handle technical Structural Design works and design review
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications
Licensed Civil Engineer
Experience in retro-fitting is an advantage
Minimum of 5-10 years' experience of work as a Structural Design Engineer.
Good communication skills
Experience using the following software: ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD and Revit
Knowledge on U.S. building codes like ACI, ASCE, AISC and IBC.
Has design experience on concrete, steel and wood Structures.
