STAFF NURSE / MIDWIFE
 
Duties and responsibilities
Maintains a professional, approachable attitude at all times with all members of staff, patients and their visitors.
Delivers culturally competent nursing care. Takes care and records histories of health, social and psychological factors, including full clinical assessments to determine individual health status. Requiring submission of competent evidence of patient identity, civil status and other vital information and attach the same to the patient chart.
Follows all Organizational policies, protocols and carries out doctors orders in a timely and efficient manner.
Monitors maternal and fetal well-being, throughout pregnancy, including antepartum, labor and early postpartum care.
Renders TeleHealth care via phone, zoom and social media platforms to clients in an effective and efficient manner and in accordance with government regulations
Acts as leader for low risk women, through prenatal care, promoting the normal birthing process during labor and delivery, and lead in low risk postpartum care check-ups.
Works in partnership with Clinical Managers to care for high-risk women with complex needs during the transfer of care.
Diagnoses the onset of labor and teaches new midwives/nurses the skills of IE and early labor monitoring.
Interprets CTG traces correctly and refers to the Senior staff and to the Team Leader for the appropriate results.
Monitors the progress of labor and monitors maternal and fetal well-being during labor.
Promotes and facilitates normality during labor and birth for low risk women.
Consults the Clinical Manager when cases become abnormal.
Assesses, monitors and cares for the woman and baby after birth and can teach a newer staff member.
Undertakes delivery and immediate postpartum skills with confidence.
Promotes breast-feeding and gives support to improve health outcomes in the short and long term for both mother and baby with regards to nutrition.
Carry out postpartum education of patients before discharge on all outlined areas.
Facilitates the teaching of parents on basic care of their newborn as well as providing family planning services and reminders and all postpartum instructions.
Promotes parent's education to help parents to make a confident transition to parenthood.
Provides vaccination service to newborns
Promotes good teamwork.
Ensures all forms are completed and charts are in correct sequence before leaving shift.
Ensures availability of medical supplies, medicines, medical equipment and other needed items in the assigned department and endorses inventory and restocked items immediately before the end of every shift.
Participates in meetings, work activities and any research to help develop better evidence-based practice at Glory Reborn.
Participates in Ministry and Outreach related activities with a positive attitude.
Other tasks that may be assigned by superiors.
Conducts daily health teachings to patients to include birth planning
Qualifications:
Updated PRC license
Has valid Philhealth accreditation registration (for midwife applicants)
Has comprehensive understanding of maternal and newborn care
Has comprehensive knowledge of maternal and newborn related complications and management.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work and lead the department with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates organizational skills including the ability to multitask, manage multiple patient cases simultaneously, make efficient use of time and resources and maintains an organized work environment.
Able to teach and communicate clearly to staff members in an effective way.
Confident in decision-making for patient cases. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Demonstrates the ability to act consistently with our core organizational values and exhibits leadership competencies.
Effective verbal and written communication skills including knowledge of technology to work with staff and management.
Understanding the ethics of confidentiality.
Willing to work with marginalized clients.
Understanding of charitable services and programs
Willing to continue education in the field of midwifery including but not limited to breastfeeding, family planning, and other DOH accredited training.
Has understanding of ministry and biblical principles and is willing to work in a Christian non-profit organization to invest in the individual lives of our clients.
