What does a Fiserv Staff Counsel do?
Provide legal support on commercial matters, including drafting and negotiation of customer, partner, procurement and licensing agreements; providing advice and assistance on regulatory and compliance matters and providing support for multi-disciplinary and cross border projects.
Establish trust with senior business unit leadership through effective legal advice, communication and conduct.
Understand Fiserv contracting standards and enterprise risk thresholds and issues.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices; keep abreast of proposed and existing legislation related to business operations in the region and advise the business accordingly.
Support disputes related to the businesses with support of corporate in-house litigators and / or external counsel.
Liaise with corporate specialists regarding audit, tax, publicity / marketing, intellectual property, and privacy and technology matters that affect the business.
Develop and maintain template contracts and other legal documentation.
Key Attributes and Skills Desired
Graduated from an accredited law school
Good standing in Australia bar is an advantage
6 or more years of legal experience, including experience with a law firm or in-house practice at a technology company and significant experience in information technology contracting
Ability to clearly and efficiently communicate in writing with both internal company representatives and external parties
Highly effective analytical, decision-making, and written/verbal communication skills
Ability to investigate complex business problems, develop effective recommendations, negotiate and/or present solutions, and resolve problems in a highly professional and tactful manner
Highly motivated, organized, and able to set priorities effectively
Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
Limited traveling
Preferred Qualifications:
Business Acumen - Background in financial services industry or technology, business-minded orientation with a genuine interest in learning, understanding and contributing to the strategic direction of the business
Technology Services and Software Licensing - Strong knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to corporations in general, specifically technology services and software licensing companies
Team Player - Demonstrated ability to consistently contribute in a team setting. Solid interpersonal skills - the ability to pick up on nuances of client interaction and communications
Execution Focused - Exceptional writing, conceptual design, presentation and negotiation skills. Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks in an extremely fast-paced environment, be extremely organized and have an eye for detail. Strong project management skills
