The Specialist of Expedition Product Development reports directly to the Sr Director of Expedition Product and Itinerary Development. They play a critical role in supporting the Sr Director in developing new, innovative and improving exiting product and itineraries. A comprehensive geographic knowledge in the cruise industry would be advantageous. Ideally have a nautical background or has a familiarity with nautical charts and voyage planing. Attention to detail and familiarity with accounting prodedures is necessary to manage the departments CAPEX budgets. Some experience and organisational skills are necessary to manage the many volumous reports, desseminating information and archiving them. Previous experience building PowerPoint presentations and some project management experience is required. Must be prepared to manage many diferent projects simultaneously and coordinate and collaborate with several different departments. Must be able to work autonomously prepared to travel approximately 30% per year.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing Scouting Reports. Collecting and archiving various scouting reports. Disseminunate details and parts of the reports to various stakeholers. This includes follow-up on budget and time lines, developing schedules, disseminating and filing reports and other support as needed.
Taking ownership and managing the onboard CAPEX equipment. Buildinjg schedules of replacement, tracking movement between vessels and be responsible for the 5-year plan of purchase and replacement.
Assist Sr Director of Itinerary and Product Development in developing the list of CAPEX equipment. Become person responsible for the process and submit timely paperwork to appropriate department for approvals.
Building Powerpoint presentastions for senior management for various subjects; such as, but not limited to; proposed and innovative itineraries, equipment, innovation, new build and re-furbished vessels, departmental budget etc
Managing the highest standard of shipboard Expedition equipment, taking into consideration the feedback by the Expedition Team members
Assisting with voyage planning. Building technical itineraries by charting routes on charting software.
Assist with the determination of permtting required for new areas and collaborate with the Sr Manager Expedition Program and Expeirience to determine all requirements are fullfiled.
Be familiar with our Expedition Operations Manual (EOM) and contributing to content, as appropriate.
Ongoing research into new and innovative products and programing ideas to differentiate our product and program from the competition.
Perform other relevant duties as directed by supervisor.
Requirements
Education:
BSc/BA in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality, Business Administration, Management or similar is desired
Years of experience:
2 years of experience working with multinational Expedition Team
5+ years of work experience onboard vessels operating worldwide
Essential qualifications and skills:
Must possess extensive destination knowledge
A strong understanding of expedition ship operations and operating regions.
Understanding of budget planning and financial control.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor.
Proficient with word-processing and spreadsheet software and presentations.
Must be highly organized, self-motivated and capable of working with minimal direction.
Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and manage time effectively.
Solid expedition and cruise industry background.
Proactive and hands on attitude
Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
