Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the settlement, reporting and reconciliation of all airline ticket transactions through ARC (Airline Reporting Corporation) and BSP (Billing & Settlement Plan). They are the main point of contact for accounting and audit with any questions, exceptions that require clarifications and/or situations that may impact week closing. This is a critical role as it is a requirement of IATA, ARC and BSP in order to be able to purchase tickets as a travel agency with all the major carriers. This position supports all business segments guests, corporate and crew globally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Weekly financial reconciliation of all airline ticket purchases in ARC/BSP and our internal systems to ensure all are fully and settled by the required timeline.
Reconcile all exceptions in all airlines related systems Internal and external
Balancing termination reports weekly
Determine passenger eligibility for refunds by researching ticket status and booking history Financial Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of credit and debit memos to ensure each area is reviewing and actioning as required
Balance cash transactions on a weekly basis to ensure funds are balanced and reconciled.
Participate projects related to financial reconciliation and associated systems such as AFMS, ARC, and BSP
Assist other teams as subject matter experts typically Quality Assurance Specialist, Ticketing Agents or anyone involved with accounting exceptions that may be causing issues in the systems.
Research and reconcile bi-weekly UATP Exception Reports for Delta, American and Bank of American
Provide support to prepare airline Audit processes for internal and external Auditors typically twice a year
Work refunds in ARC and BSP globally as needed when not possible in the GDS. This is a process that only this position and/or the supervisor is able to handle this process
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
Five years related experience and education combined.
Previous travel agency, airline and/or air department at a cruise line experience required.
Must have Airline GDS experience (Sabre and Amadeus)
Ability to read and comprehend written documents.
Ability to communicate professionally via written email communication with customers globally.
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to both internal and external customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS and ACCOUNTING BASICS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Due to requirements of working with accounting the ability to understand debits and credits and accounting formats is very important.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
