Job Description
Emerson is looking for highly motivated individuals to join a global development team using state of the art technologies to deliver a next generation asset performance software platform. The team is designing and developing computer software systems whose software architecture is designed for the distributed enterprise using the latest technologies available. As a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer, you will be responsible for improving and ensuring product development effectiveness, efficiency, consistency, and synergy across several diverse but related product lines, resulting in work products that are best in class, timely, and deliver maximum stakeholder value. The primary focus of this position is on pragmatic, proactive improvement, prevention, and results.
Responsibilities
Define and maintain software development processes, practices, and guidelines, keeping current with industry best practices
Lead the harmonization of processes, practices, and guidelines across several world area sites and product lines
Train and mentor teams throughout the organization on product development processes, practices, and guidelines, to ensure effectiveness and consistency
Lead continuous product development effectiveness and efficiency improvement across the organization
Establish effectiveness and efficiency metrics
Lead Root Cause Analysis
Participate in systematic reviews of development artifacts
Ensure process compliance, including leading periodic QA audits
Lead / participate in retrospectives to capture lessons learned
Gather and analyze metrics, root cause, retrospective, review, and audit data. From that data and analysis, identify improvements to process and practices, and feed those into upcoming product development work
Champion the movement toward Agile practices
Coordinate closely with broader Quality Organization to ensure consistency and alignment, including but not limited to compliance with ISO and other certification requirements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Eight or more years of experience in a software development, testing, or SQA role
2+ years of experience in process/product quality assurance
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to influence others
A passion for quality and exceptional attention to detail
Very strong analytical skills
Nice to Have Qualifications
Experience in different software development methodologies, including Agile
Experience with Reliability Solutions and Emerson products
