QA Analyst - Backend tester Job Description
• Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, critical problem-solving skills
• Detail oriented, self-motivated and should be able to work on fast paced teams and a quick learner
• Knowledge of a broad range of software applications
• Excellent analytical skills and strong knowledge of SQL queries - writing and execution
• Experienced in backend testing
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to think in the abstract and understand how small details fit in
• Should have a logical thinking to understand the flow of the applications
• Work closely with developers to recognize and assess potential risks and resolve issues
• Skilled in developing and maintaining test plans and scripts
• Should have experience in Database/ ETL/Reports Testing
• Should understand Agile methodology and work on agile projects
• Should have knowledge and understanding of defect management tool such as JIRA
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or its equivalent
• 3-5 years of QA experience
QA Analyst - Backend tester Roles and Responsibilities
• Understanding of QA processes
• Develop Test plan and test cases and prioritize testing activities
• Create test data for testing
• Execute test cases and report defects
• A good understanding of the applications being tested
• Should be able to write and execute SQL queries to validate the DB
• Should be able to read unix logs to troubleshoot the issues
• Review user stories and/or requirements to document test cases and execute them and document the results
• Perform different types of testing like smoke testing, functional testing and regression testing
• Communicate to development team about issues and help in issue resolution
• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning and story pointing sessions
• Key player on an agile development team
• Work very closely with the development team in an agile environment
Nice to have
• Hospitality industry knowledge preferred
• Informix DB knowledge a plus
• Automation experience a plus
• ISTQB certification
