Overview
DreamHost has an opportunity for a Software Developer II who is passionate about open-source to join our team. In this role you'd be collaborating with small teams of Developers to continue to improve our products and services, as well as launching new ones. The role would involve both back and front-end development, and is best suited for someone with an understanding of Perl and JavaScript.
Responsibilities
Design, implement and maintain multiple products
Direct responsibility for successfully hitting milestones and targets
Assist in defining the direction for hosting products
Troubleshoot and fix bugs
Document your development work
Be an active participant in planning, standup, and retrospective meetings
Collaborate with the rest of the team to make code changes that solve problems for internal and external customers
Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation to ensure that the team creates quality, correct code
Be a part of an on-call rotation for responding to customer-facing emergencies
BS/MS in Computer Science or relevant field preferred
Possess a burning passion for innovation and open source technologies
Excellent communication skills
Experience programming in Perl; JavaScript is a big plus; Python is also a plus
1-3 years experience designing and writing complex, scalable, and secure applications with an emphasis on web applications
1-3 years of experience with RESTful API's
Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming Principles
Experience with microservice architecture
Experience with SSH, FTP, HTTP, DNS protocols
Experience with Linux
