Overview:
URC is searching for an experienced Social Behavior Change (SBC) Coordinator for the USAID BARMMHealth project in Philippines. BARMMHealth is a five-year project to bolster the capacity of the Ministry of Health- Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) in facilitating local health solutions in family planning, adolescent and youth reproductive health, and maternal and child health, towards self-reliance and sustainability.
The project works on three objectives: Improve social norms and strengthened healthy behaviors among underserved adolescents, youth, women and men, fortify quality of family planning and maternal and child health service, and bolster key public health policies and systems needed to support behaviors and services for maternal and child health.
Responsibilities:
The SBC Coordinator will support implementation of normative changes and SBC interventions, coordinate service delivery on supply side issues, and be held responsible for increasing the service utilization from the local people.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Supports field level implementation of normative change and SBC interventions such as social/community mobilization, public education campaigns, education of influencers, advocacy to local leaders, and other forms of community engagements under the supervision of the provincial officer and technical team;
In coordination with other components' teams and technical director, guides the process of developing and deploying communication, marketing and behavior change interventions and measuring/monitoring the results, including communication and behavioral outcomes;
Contributes to increasing health service utilization by men, women, adolescents, and people with special needs, addressing accessibility and supply chain barriers to high-quality service delivery;
Strengthens the project's SBC capabilities and guide project team members in implementation, as well identifying technical assistance and training needs both in team members and partners;
Initiates collection of partner feedback for every activity done in the community and submit reports/documentation as required by the Provincial officer, and technical team;
Participates in communities of practice on relevant technical areas and apply evidenced-based SBC-related innovations and best practices that would be beneficial to the project;
Proactively contributes to knowledge management, which may include documenting relevant findings and success stories;
Any other related duties and relevant tasks assigned by supervisor/Chief of Party.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills, work ethic, ability to work under pressure, ability to work with people of different cultural backgrounds, and ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues, including geographically dispersed teams.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in public health, anthropology, psychology, communication, marketing, business, economics, or related field;
A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in generating and implementing innovative and effective SBC-related strategies, outcomes and deliverables;
Strong knowledge and implementation of behavior change theory;
Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages.
