Our Client
In this position, you will be assigned to our Australia-based client. The company produces components including server racks, fans, filters and custom sheet metal parts for a wide variety of industries.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Work closely with the owner and plant manager in designing new products and enhancing existing ones, on spec and on time;
Work through designs to customer specifications and manufacturability, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and cost estimations;
Liaise directly with customers to ensure their requirements are accurately satisfied;
Progress designs to manufacturing;
Complete designs in line with the Product Design program - from concept to working drawings to final manufactured parts, the mechanical design needs to be communicated to the workshop and standards need to be met;
Provide Operations and Customer Service departments with product technical support;
Adhere to ISO9001 Quality Management System policies and documents including internal and external audits;
Inspect and report results of quality issues, summarizing results, entry, and reporting of data into a quality database;
Raise non-conforming reports and liaise with suppliers on rectification;
Ensure product testing (verification and validation) is comprehensively completed before changes are implemented to products and processes; and
Conduct Warranty Analysis by tracking warranty field failure data, assisting in failure analysis, and communicating failure detail to appropriate parties.
Your Background
To qualify for this role, you must have:
More than 5 years of experience in the related field, ideally experienced with sheet metal;
Must have 2D experience in AutoCAD, Inventor or similar tool. 3D experience will be highly regarded;
Proficiency in compiling detailed 2D fabrication and manufacturing drawings in accordance with ISO standards;
Flat design experience - Mechanical / sheet metal / flat plastic;
Exposure to designing for laser cutter, turret punch, brake press;
Previous experience with fabrication/manufacturing;
The ability to produce results despite conflicting pressures and competing demands;
Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral; and
Versatility, initiative, and independent thought.
