We are hiring for a Senior UX Designer with strong experience in global consumer software-as-a-service (SaaS) products who can bring in fresh ideas and industry experience to revitalize the user experience in our telecommunication products.
We operate on a hybrid schedule (a few days in the office every week) for hires located in Cebu or Manila, but is open to fully remote candidates to work in any part of the world, if they are highly qualified for the role and are available in a sufficient time overlap with the rest of the team who are primarily located in the Philippines (+8 UTC). Relocation is also an option, if you're interested.
As a Senior UX Designer, you will report to a manager and will be part of our design team which consists of UX and content designers. On the other hand, frequent cross-functional work with product owners and software engineers can be expected.
All our products are in the telecommunications and web industry, both as a value-add service platform provider and an infrastructure developer. We provide businesses the infrastructure and tools for them to sell new telecom products and enhance the value they deliver to their customers. The primary customers of our software suite are the Synacy & RISE Group's own storefront brands, such as Monopond, UTBox, and RISE, but extends to third party brands globally. Experience in the telecommunications industry is a strong advantage for this role.
Our customers are businesses who access our products using a web browser. As a business-to-business (B2B) company, most of our users have business knowledge and technical backgrounds. They use our products as part of operating their businesses, and expect our user interface to efficiently fit in their workflows. We believe a good user experience is important, together with ensuring the use of our products is cost effective.
What you will be doing:
As a Senior UX Designer in our software team, will have the following functions:
Lead and participate in UX design efforts for both our whitelabel software suite and our storefront brand's public websites
Study problems to design features and interactions that integrates well into the user's workflow
Create low fidelity UI sketch and high fidelity prototypes to aid in testing concepts with stakeholders and customers, and to help our software teams understand how to implement features
Produce design assets for use as creative components in features and practical documentation of these assets
Facilitate design workshops on visual design, information structure, usability, and functionality
Lead the conceptualization and institutionalization of the company's own design system
Mentor and give valuable feedback to junior UX and content design members to improve overall UX capabilities in the team
Inspect and provide feedback to recently implemented versions of our products
Manage stakeholders' expectations and confidently provide insight on why proposed UI designs work at the same time understanding what their limitations are
Collaborate closely with Product Leads on potential features that require UX study
Collaborate with Technology Leads to assess the feasibility and cost of UI design implementation within the system's architecture
As part of our distributed team, the following are expected:
Establish a working space and infrastructure, to effectively participate in a distributed environment
Schedule work and manage expectations on a daily basis, with a minimum of 4 hours overlap with the rest of the team
Use a stable, high quality Internet access for video conferencing and have access to backup internet, in case of outages
Able to join a video conference during established working hours
Able to travel on-site to our offices up to 2 weeks at a time
Who you are:
We are looking for someone with the following qualification:
At least 6 years of experience in UX design roles, with at least 3 years in a global consumer software-as-a-service (SaaS) company.
Can create UI designs and user flows with Figma and/or InVision.
Can implement UI designs as HTML, CSS, and Javascript codes.
Can participate and provide useful insights in the UX and UI design process and design system.
Has a high level understanding of the capabilities and limitations of Angular and other frontend frameworks and their implications on design.
Motivated to work with a multidisciplinary group to understand problems and solutions.
Able to visualize imaginary concepts and describe in detail how it will play in a dynamic system over a period of time.
Can teach and help others understand design topics and explain design concepts in business and user terms.
Experience in the telecommunications industry, including messaging and Internet, is a big advantage.

About our software team
At Synacy, we develop our own products. Our founders, product teams, engineering teams, and customer support teams are all part of the same company, co-located in our offices (mainly in Cebu and Manila) and work closely together to develop products that delight our customers.
Our software team is composed of 3 to 5 cross-functional members and is designed to be complete and responsible for delivering complete features to users. We expect our engineers to be not just writing code, but to participate in the entire process from investigating problems, designing solutions, and implementing them into features our users will love. In addition, we have a leadership team that is composed of team leads, product managers, and engineering managers, that work together in leading the entire software group.
We use a goal-oriented product roadmap to keep all our teams aligned, which is updated in a weekly cycle by the leadership team. Further, we maintain a corresponding release plan based on a monthly release cycle, where we break down features into sizeable chunks that our teams can work with as little inter-team dependency as possible.
Our teams apply an agile process of weekly planning, retrospectives, daily check-in, pair programming, and use Trello to visualize our progress. All our code is version controlled in Github and all code changes go through a peer-review process.
We have a continuous delivery pipeline, using CircleCI and CloudFormation, and perform deployment using automated tools in our AWS production site. We built most of our automation tools and we expect all our engineers to participate in maintaining our development tools, delivery pipelines, and production sites.
Our teams are encouraged to spend time developing their knowledge and skills so they stay relevant in their field. We have self-initiated learning sessions and allocate time in weekly sprints for learning activities.
