Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is recruiting a Senior Piping Materials Engineer to join our team in Manila. The project will run over a five - year period with a possible two - year extension. Wood has many years of experience in carrying such projects all over the world and it is our intention to bring our world class systems to this project.
Successful applicants will be responsible for the execution and delivery of the Materials Engineering. This will include the use of relevant software, material selection, fracture mechanics and corrosion analysis. This is an end to end rejuvenation scope and as such, will involve interfacing with other disciplines like, planning, construction, procurement, HVEC and client operations.
The Senior Piping Materials Engineer will be responsible to provide materials advice for new projects and operations support to Asset Units.

Skills / Qualifications
Execute all Materials Engineering activities
Provide design input and carry out study to establish material selection and protection methods.
Provide and approve designs with regard to corrosion protection measures
Develop and maintain the BSP corrosion prevention specifications
Verify adherence to material selection and corrosion standards / guidelines, Shell DEPs (DEM1 & DEM2 / PSBR) and other recognized International Standards
Ensure MCI deliverables are in accordance to the requirements of Shell's Discipline Control Assurance Framework (DCAF)
Maintain communications with external corrosion expertise groups
Identify and apply new technology for corrosion control, corrosion monitoring and inspection
Support project engineer with selection of effective corrosion control and development of corrosion management framework for new facilities
Develop and maintain the corrosion data management as part of Piping and Pipeline Integrity Management System
Provide corrosion and metallurgical expertise to Operations in failure investigations
Provide corrosion and metallurgical expertise to subsurface in downhole material selection and corrosion issues
Communicate proactively with BSP's Materials & Corrosion community in ensuring common direction and standards
Provide on the job training and coaching for team.
Promote good materials and welding design and operations practice with contractors, suppliers, and customers:
Qualifications (Essential):
10 years' discipline experience in corrosion control and materials selection in oil and gas industry
Understands BSP - 12 - 71 - 72, DCAF, AI - PS, DEM's, engineering, maintenance, and production business processes
Skilled in the interpretation and application of International, National, Group & Local Standards, Codes of Practice, Specifications and Guidelines relating to materials and corrosion & degradation mechanisms
Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to persuade a multi - disciplinary team of the importance of a sound material selection and corrosion management strategy
Skilled in the coaching of discipline staff
Understands all phases of project maturation process and the discipline inputs required for each.
Qualifications (Preferred):
Brownfield rejuvenation
Member of a recognized institution and registered Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer
Worked in an EPC environment
Working knowledge of Shell's DEP s
Technical Competences required:
Skill in selecting, specifying, or developing requirements for metallic materials and appropriate testing
Skill in selecting, specifying, or developing fabrication, welding, installation, repair, and refurbishment methods
Skill in selecting, specifying, or developing requirements for non - metallic materials and appropriate testing. Specify manufacturing, joining, installation, repair, and refurbishment methods
Skill in optimizing the materials selection and corrosion and degradation control strategies for life cycle integrity
Knowledge in specifying material QA / QC needs in manufacturing, procurement, and installation
Knowledge in specifying or define cathodic protection systems
Knowledge in specifying or define protective coating systems
Skill in selecting or design chemical treatment systems, including analysis and interpretation of system performance and monitoring data
Knowledge in specifying or design corrosion and process monitoring systems
Skill in analyzing and review corrosion chemical and process monitoring systems
Skill in assessing and benchmark equipment integrity management systems
Knowledge in performing fitness for service and remaining life assessment
Knowledge in assessing equipment repair and replacement requirements, including specifying methods and conduct QA / QC for standard maintenance repairs and replacements
Skill in identifying and analyze failure modes and relate them to specific manufacturing, welding, and / or operating conditions / history
Knowledge in determining techniques and testing to investigate potential causes
Knowledge in interpreting analyses and test results and evaluate failure
Knowledge in leading failure investigation and develop follow - up actions. This can include formal incident reporting, LFIs, changes to processes, etc.
