Responsibilities:
Focus on Automation: Build tools to automate processes and enhance efficiency.
Support auto-scaling and high-traffic web applications on Amazon Web Services.
Educate team members on building and architecting for scalability.
Contribute to the delivery of new service offerings, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure low latency and high performance.
Monitor traffic and recommend new technologies for cost savings.
Optimize cloud deployments by working with operations and engineering teams.
Ensure 24x7 availability of service offerings.
Develop, support, and document automated build and configuration management processes.
Create automation and orchestration capabilities for scalable operations.
Analyze application characteristics for hardware configuration optimization and operational system performance.
Design, implement, and test robust failover and disaster recovery procedures.
Write knowledge base documents to enhance operations, SOP, and contribute to the IT organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in system design planning, review, and implementation working groups.
Provide technology assessments in support of automation and technology migration initiatives.
Recommend improvements and monitor production and non-production systems for maximum efficiency.
Support applications, including escalation and system performance of production platforms.
Develop and maintain plans for successful recovery of operating systems in the event of a disaster.
Perform systems analysis and tuning to ensure optimal operating systems response for multi-user applications.
Utilize innovative methods and technologies to identify and solve problems related to performance, scalability, reliability, and availability.
Automate operational processes using scripting languages, with experience in Python, PowerShell, and Yaml preferred.
Develop, implement, and continually improve system and network monitoring and alerting capabilities and procedures.
Requirements
Amazon Web Services operation, maintenance, implementation, and design expertise.
Strong scripting for task automation in Python/PowerShell or another complex language.
Cloud management system APIs proficiency.
General Linux (RedHat, CentOS) and Windows (2012 R2 and 2016) system administration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Industry best practices application to solutions.
Technical documentation generation and maintenance.
Open-mindedness and a willingness to learn new technologies.
Solid experience in a development/systems administrator/DevOps role.
Hands-on working knowledge of global AWS deployments at scale in SaaS and PCI environments.
Excellent TCP/IP networking experience and understanding, including LB, VPN, Firewalls, etc.
Experience with configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, Puppet, or similar (Ansible preferred).
Understanding of load balancing principles.
