Job Description
Removing surface of dirt, rust, old paint, and grease, and prepares it for refinishing and repair using pneumatic, electrical or mechanical equipment through sandblasting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Using the abrasive blasting equipment to remove paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt.
- Responsible for shoveling or pouring sand, grit, or other abrasive material into the machine and monitoring and maintaining an adequate supply of the abrasive in the hopper.
- Protecting specific areas of the work surface using masking film, tape, and rubber.
- Carrying, lifting, and setting up heavy equipment.
-Maintenance of the sandblasting equipment, such as cleaning and changing nozzles.
- Other general activities related to sandblasting may be included such as preparing parts for the paint shop, cleaning motors and chassis.
Work-environment demands
- Often times encountering dusty and loud activities.
- Frequently exposed to potentially dangerous situations such as chemicals, and risk of electrocution.
- Guidelines such as wearing a hard hat, safety toe work boots, hearing protection are strictly for compliance.
Qualifications
- Must possess at least a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate.
- At Least 3 years of working experience in the field is required by the position.
- Must have TESDA Certification related to Sandblasting
