The Remote Data Center Network Engineering candidate is responsible for managing both new and existing interregional customer deployments with Equinix while demonstrating knowledge the Equinix systems, processes and tools. A successful candidate will develop and maintain expertise on global colocation data centers, their offerings and services. The Data Center Network Engineer will manage on-going customer service relations and serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between Equinix, the client and the Telecommunication internal account teams. The Data Center Network Engineer is responsible for overall client satisfaction while managing project scope and is expected to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Manages and supports multiple client Equinix onboarding's and day 2 support simultaneously as specified in each signed statement of work.
Delivers Professional Services in the agreed upon timeframe and in accordance with client expectations during the various project phases
Develops relationships with key project stakeholders including but not limited to clients, Equinix Customer Success Managers and internal Telecommunication support teams.
Develops and maintains expertise on the various collocation processes, services and products resold through Telecommunication.
Demonstrates the ability to utilize systems such as the Equinix Customer Portal and Equinix Cloud Exchange Portal efficiently and effectively and follows processes.
Orients and educates clients on the various functionalities and capabilities of the Equinix Customer Portal.
Provides assistance as needed in completing orders for items such as cross connects, customer work visits and inbound shipments
Coordinates activities to turn up services such as Equinix Connect and cloud connectivity through ECX Fabric
Must be able to obtain both the Equinix Certified Technical Professional (ECTP) I and II certifications within the first month of employment.
Experience
Minimum 4 years experience in the network engineering field with a focus on Data Center networking.
Demonstrated ability to write detailed technical supporting documentation
Scheduling and leading technical interviews with various customer groups and subject matter experts
Identifying, collecting, organizing, and reviewing pertinent network requirements
Demonstrated understanding of security concepts, configuration of next generation firewalls, and network segmentation
Creating and presenting executive reports across multiple organization leadership levels.
Manage new and existing customer deployments while demonstrating knowledge of Equinix systems, processes and tools.
Develops and maintain expertise on global colocation data centers and their offerings and services.
Must Have:
Solid understanding of data center network engineering fundamentals and design principles.
Capability to architect solutions that exhibit operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
Strong history of the adoption of emerging technologies and increased engineering responsibility.
Strong experience working with Public and Private Cloud environments as well as traditional Data Center.
Understanding of virtualization throughout the technology stack (network/storage/compute).
