The Radio Operator operates ICRC's telecommunications equipment. S/he maintains radio contact and telecommunications between sites, vehicles, and people for the delegation to follow field movements in accordance with its program and security rules. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Follows communication and transmission activity via telecommunications equipment. Ensures constant contact with people moving in the field and takes appropriate action as stipulated under the ICRC's security rules and internal guidelines. Proactively maintains information flow on security-related issues Updates lists of field movements, messages transmitted, etc. Records staff movements in the field on the Field Mobile Log Database with appropriate annotations as to the staff's circumstances at the time of the contact. Helps monitor incidents in and around the area where the staff are going and provides feedback to responsible staff/office. REQUIRED PROFILE Bachelors degree in electronics, telecommunication, information technology or similar field. Capacity to deal with public visitors and address phone calls. Good command of written and spoken English and Filipino. Ability to treat information confidentially. Knowledge of telecommunication equipment (UHF, VHF, satellite, GPS, etc.) is an asset. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Attitude to work well under pressure and can adapt to sudden change of priorities.
