Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

We are searching for an experienced R&D Manager who is self-starter with strong leadership and business acumen to partner with UFS PH Leadership Team in delivering growth and profitability for the country while driving the landing of R&D initiatives through a holistic approach vis a vis business prioritization. Likewise, as part of regional UFS R&D SEASA-METRA, to provide expertise, capability support and leadership to drive the landing of regional R&D agenda in concert with relevant R&D Teams in South East and South Asia, Middle East, Turkey, Israel and Africa.
Main Accountabilities
Partner with UFS Philippines Leadership Team, in delivering growth and profitability ambitions for the country by co-develop strategic initiatives with relevant stakeholders to identify opportunities aligning with business objectives through ensuring holistic product superiority of UFS TT10, delivering impactful innovations, building smart product roadmaps and engaging relevant operators to address their needs and provide the best solutions.
Plan, execute and monitor technical deliverables of innovation & renovation projects on-time in-full across R&D functions (formulation, packaging, processing, CTI-claims, regulatory), implement project management best practices in agile ways to drive efficient project execution and ensuring adherence to budget and quality standards
Provides high-quality R&D support and technical expertise on local technical matters, and enabling flawless implementation of innovations, renovations, value improvement and other relevant projects in Philippines.
Build and maintain strong Stakeholders management of cross-functional Teams and mutiple countries, where applied, to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing while partnering with business in strategic planning and ensure effective transfer of R&D outcomes into commercial products or services
Give guidance and expert inputs on claims/risks/issues/crisis management, and supports implementation of local activation projects.
Build next-generation capabilities with ecosystem of partners (external research organisations, universities and industry experts), suppliers and in close coordination with global Hive and wider Nutrition R&D teams.
Work closely with the R&D cross-category co-locating in the same location to ensure capability in R&D is built and deliverables of common agenda in Philippines are aligned, optimized and quality is uncompromised while delivering the UFS ambition of growth and margin.
Develop future-fit UFS R&D team and talents in Philippines, build agile resourcing of category experts, Workstream Leaders (WSL) and Technical Project Leaders (TPL) and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence to support business growth agenda.
Manage risks and ensure compliance with mandatory Unilever policies, relevant PH legislations and intellectual property rights
Lead the R&D elements in Unilever Sustainability Living Plan agenda.
Prepare and manage R&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control
Keep up to date with relevant trends and market development for awareness on competition, getting technical insights from operators, and ensuring holistic superiority of UFS portfolio
Needs to be attuned to operators insights in delivery of the project that is most relevant to customers.
